If you’re looking for a super easy, rich chocolate frosting recipe, you’ve come to the right place. This recipe belongs to my mother-in-law Crissy and it goes great with her famous Chocolate Brownies recipe. This frosting only requires 5 ingredients and takes just 5 minutes to whip up!
The base of this frosting consists of softened butter which makes for an amazing flavor combination when it’s paired with the powdered sugar and cocoa. You get a rich, creamy frosting that spreads easily and is super chocolatey! I love that you can just throw all the ingredients into a bowl and mix until smooth. How could something so good be sooo easy to make? :P Using a handheld electric mixer definitely adds to the ease of this recipe. Below is a link to the same one I use at home ALL the time.
What’s great about this chocolate frosting is that it can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for a week until needed. It will harden slightly in the fridge but you can easily pop it in the microwave for about 15-30 seconds to loosen it up and make it easier to spread. It really is quite the versatile chocolate frosting recipe. See below for the full recipe!
