Since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, getting creative with my breakfast food is something I love doing. You’d be surprised how many different things you can make with sausage, eggs and potatoes. One awesome thing about breakfast is that it’s great any time of day, not just morning! My Turkey & Cheese Omelet for example is a staple dinner in our household for those nights we’re too lazy to make a four-course meal. This Sausage and Potato Casserole is no different. It’s also filling, leaves lots of left overs and is full of spicy Italian flavor.
What makes this casserole complete is that it’s paired with my grandmother-in-law’s Perfectly Flaky Crust Recipe. This crust is what gives the casserole a quiche-like style and taste. The heart of the casserole consists of spicy Italian sausage and diced potatoes. Usually, you’ll be able to bake this casserole for about 55 minutes at 350 degrees. However, if your oven is anything like mine, you might need a little extra bake time. Just make sure to check on the casserole after the 55 minutes to decide if it needs to be left in a little longer. For me, I stuck a butter knife in the center of the casserole to check if there was any excess liquid. If there is, leave the casserole in the oven for another 15-20 minutes.
So, if you’re ready to impress your guests and family with a grand breakfast (or dinner!) casserole, follow the recipe below and let’s get started. Leave me any questions you might have in the comments!
